Overnight we saw the birth of Hurricane Irene in the Eastern Caribbean. We have recently extended our Iridium plans; most of which are pre-paid minute plans. For a full list please see below. Monthly Account The user pays a monthly subscription fee and is billed for the airtime used each month. The monthly subscription fee is $38.50 per month with a of 12 month contract. No activation fee. Airtime charges of $1.25 per minute for outgoing calls to land and cellular phone. Iridium to Iridium calls are $0.65 per minutes. SMS (text messages) are $0.42 per message. Given the all the natural disasters around the world it is not surprising that all the experts are predicting above average activity for the 2011 hurricane season which officially begins June 1st and runs through November 30.
