The Torqeedo Ultralight is the World's first genuine electric outboard for Kayaks. It's extremely light, waterproof and fits onto just about any Kayak using it's unique ball and socket joint.
The Ultralight was designed with 3 key features; it must be lightweight, watertight and offer speeds greater than a kayaker can paddle with a worthwhile range.
Lightweight - The Ultralight is very lightweight, including the battery it weighs a mere 15 lbs (7 kg)! This makes the outboard extremely portable. The outboard comes in only a few parts. The battery, remote throttle control, the outboard itself, steering and ball joint all the parts that make this amazing Kayak outboard work. The ball joint is the only part that is permanently fixed to the Kayak.
Watertight - The Ultralight outboard is excellent for Kayaks all components are watertight and allow for complete immersion.
Speed - The Ultralight has an extremely high-efficient drive train with performance comparable with 1 hp petrol outboard. At slow speed the outboard can run for 6 hours covering a distance of 15.72m at 2.6 mph. At full throttle the Ultralight can travel at 5.8mph, cover a distance of 3.5 miles for 36 minutes. - These results were measured using a Hobie Mirage Revolution Fishing Kayak, 4.1m long and weighing 57.98 lbs.
